An area man has returned home safely from military service in Afghanistan.
Jeremy Boetjer is back in the States, his mother reported in this e-mailed press release:
I wanted to take this time to officially notify everyone that Jeremy J. Boetjer has returned safely, thank GOD, from Afghanistan. I wanted to extend a personal thanks to you all for your prayers and support of Jeremy and our family. We all truly appreciate it.
I received a phone call from Jeremy saying "they are all here (fingers and toes)."
I had told him when he was born all I wanted was him to be healthy and I just was counting fingers and toes to make sure, and "the only hero is a sandwich, so just come home safe and in one piece."
Jeremy is part of a Special Operations unit and cannot discuss operations or deployments. So we in his family only know that if we have not heard from him for a while then something is up.
During this last deployment he got to enjoy the lovely remote Afghanistan landscape (mostly at night) in winter. He told me the sunrises and sunsets were most beautiful.
We had an address to send him packages and letters so he received many hand warmers and items from home. He did, however, miss deer season this year in Indiana and that was his biggest regret as ever since he was a 11 years old he has never missed one until now.
I have included his current address where his mail can always go.
Thank you for your prayers and support."
The address is:
PFC Jeremy J. Boetjer,
Box 18, 3rd Battalion,
75th Ranger Regiment,
Fort Benning Georgia 31905
