Two Clay County residents received minor injuries in a personal injury accident Monday morning at the intersection of U.S. 40 and C.R. 300W. Vehicles driven by Todd Pierce of Carbon and Krista Stearley collided.

Pierce told Clay County Sheriff's Deputy Jason Frazier he was westbound on U.S. 40 when the Stearley automobile crossed in front of him and he was unable to stop due to the slick road.

Stearley said she was traveling north on C.R. 300W. She said she stopped at the intersection and then continued across U.S. 40, not seeing the pickup truck driven by Pierce.

The pickup truck had total front end damage and the autombile's passenger side was caved in, according to the Sheriff's Department report.

Pierce complained of back and neck pain and was transported to St. Vincent Clay Hospital by Trans-Care Ambulance for evaluation. Stearley was evaluated and released at the scene of the accident.

Other agencies responding to the accident were Posey Fire Department, Clay County Search and Rescue, Brazil Police Department and the Indiana State Police.
