The Brazil City Park Board reawarded its 2005 mowing contract for the three city parks to Mullenix Lawn Service, Inc.
The Board approved the decision at its meeting March 9 at City Hall.
"He has done an excellent job the last two years of mowing," Park Board President Ruthann Jeffries said. "He did as good of a job the last year as the year before."
Six bids were given to the Board and five were considered. To determine who received the contract the Board contacted more than the references given by the companies, Jeffries said.
Although two companies bid lower than Mullenix, the Board decided, "Since he is doing such a good job ... we decided to stay with him another year."
Jeffries said she would like to make it clear that the five companies considered were all in close running for the contract, but "We felt that his good work and intentions should have been rewarded."
Mullenix Lawn Service will be paid $25,070 for 23 mows beginning in April and running through mid-fall. Jeffries said last year Mullenix worked November, but it could be as early as October that the contract is complete.
"We give him 23 mows and he uses those the way he sees fit," she said.
The three parks located in Brazil are Forest, Craig and Wheeler parks.
