An early morning fire at Great Dane in Brazil caused the company to evacuate more than 200 shift workers Monday.
However, "Everyone is back at work and we're up and running as normal," said Mike Steed, Great Dane Human Resources Manager.
At 2:48 this morning, the Brazil Fire Department was called to Great Dane to extinguish a fire that began in a refrigerator trailer inside the plant. That trailer was completely destroyed and Fire Chief Tobey Archer said a second trailer was damaged by fire and other other items in the plant were damaged by smoke and when the sprinkler system activated.
"Great Dane followed all the correct procedures," Archer said.
Employees evacuated the building, but later returned to work. There were no injuries reported.
Two fire engines and a ladder truck were on the scene until 4:35 a.m.
The fire is being investigated by Great Dane.
