Caucus to be held for township advisory board member

Thursday, March 31, 2005

The Clay County Democratic Central Committee will conduct a caucus to fill a position left vacant following the resignation of Brazil Township Advisory Board Member Fredia Modesitt.

Persons interested in filling the position must collect CEB-5 forms from the Clay County Clerk's Office or Election Office, then return them to the Clay County Democratic Central Committee Chairman Joe Broyles no later than 72 hours prior to the caucus. Applicants must be residents of Brazil Township, but Broyles said it isn't necessary to have prior experience in local government.

The duties of a township advisory board member include but are not limited to: attending quarterly meetings and special sessions, advising the trustee on matters pertaining to the township, examining and approving the annual report, making appropriations and establishing tax rates and levies for the ensuing year.

The caucus meeting will be conducted at the Brazil Township Trustee Office at 4 W. National Ave. For further information, persons may contact Broyles at 812-986-3368 or 812-236-4540.
