A reporter for The Brazil Times was recently recognized for his contributions to the Indiana State University student newspaper, the Indiana Statesman, in Terre Haute.
Josh Cannon, a graduate of ISU, has worked for The Times since the beginning of February.
He was awarded a plaque for his leadership role as the editor-in-chief of the Indiana Statesman during the summer of 2004. He was also given a certificate for working for the student-ran and produced newspaper five semesters or more.
Cannon was also recognized for helping the ISU newspaper to win second place for best special section design from the Indiana Collegiate Press Association.
The special section was the Indiana Statesman's annual Back to School issue. The special section was 52 pages and five sections.
He said he was happy to learn of the Back to School issue's recognition, but it couldn't have been completed without help from several important people on his staff.
