A local man was recently rewarded for his work in catching juvenile vandals responsible for breaking windows at Forest Park.

Brazil City Clerk-Treasurer Tracy Webster reported Bill Rhuebottom was given his reward of $500. The Brazil Board of Works and Public Safety approved the transaction.

The vandals were arrested and later convicted, and Brazil Park Board President Ruthann Jeffries said that Rhuebottom came in the day after the incident to collect his reward. But the reward signs posted in the park at that time specified the vandals must be convicted prior to disbursement of a reward.

Park Board members have concluded the amount should be decreased.

New signs will be posted with a new amount.
