Brazil gets new city map

Thursday, May 26, 2005

A new map of the city of Brazil will include additions and updates that haven't been noted for about 23 years.

CommunityLink, the company responsible for the city's map project, is based in Pinckneyville, Ill.

"We updated the zoning map," Brazil Planning Administrator Michele Driscoll told The Brazil Times. "It shows each individual parcel and everything."

The full-color map includes up-to-date cartography of Brazil and Clay County. Features include locator icons identifying local points of interest and sponsoring businesses, and an on-line counterpart featuring state-of-the-art technology for navigating through the city.

Last updated in 1982, the updated map is displayed in Driscoll's office. Although not yet available, the 11-inch by 14-inch maps will be offered free to members of the public. About 5,000 maps will also be distributed at other places in the community.

CommunityLink has produced more than 1,000 important publications in partnership with communities in 46 states. The company specializes in helping cities reach out to prospective businesses and families considering relocation.

Brazil and area businesses are invited to participate in several sponsorship options. The publisher offers advertising packages and incentives. For further information, contact Brad Estes at 800-455-5600 ext. 2005.
