The Eighth Annual Deidra's Biker Bash, a family event that benefits the Multiple Sclerosis Association of America, is set for June 10-11 at Mansfield.
"We started the fundraiser eight years ago in honor of my daughter," organizer Maggie Hargis told The Brazil Times.
But in addition to Deidra, now 31, the event also honors Hargis's deceased husband Mickey, who died as the result of a motorcycle accident in 2000.
The event will be at the red barn in Mansfield, Hargis said, and a jug for donations will be available in addition to informative MS pamphlets. All proceeds go to the MSAA.
"They are the organization that provides walkers, beds, wheelchairs and other equipment for people with limited incomes," she said.
Members of the Sons of Silence and Sin Sity Sons, both Terre Haute motorcycle clubs, along with the band Chaos, also worked to organize the weekend activities, Hargis said.
Fees for camping are set at $10 per night and the shower house will be open for campers, and those attending the event will be responsible for bringing their own alcoholic beverages. T-shirts are $10 each, and admission to Friday and Saturday night performances by Chaos, set for 8 p.m.-midnight, is $6 per night. Youth 15 or younger may attend free of charge.
The Saturday poker run starts with the first out at 11 a.m. and ends with the last in at 4 p.m. Food, door prizes and a 50-50 drawing are also scheduled. Meal tickets for the hog roast are $5 per person.
