A new I-70 interchange could be constructed in the near future close to the Clay/Vigo County line.
"It's been in the works for sometime," said Clay County Commissioner Daryl Andrews.
The Vigo County Council will vote June 21 whether or not to allow an engineering study of the possible interchange, the Tribune-Star reported Tuesday.
While another interchange would certainly benefit Clay County, "we should develop the old interchange (at Highway 59) first," Andrews said.
Andrews said the possible location for the new interchange is where S.R. 42 crosses over I-70, but no concrete plans have been established.
