At approximately 6:30 p.m. on June 18, Deputy J. Aaron Smith of the Greene County Sheriff's Deaprtment was called to the scene of a head-on collision near Switz City, Ind., that left three people seriously injured and caused the death of a local resident.
Tara Meadlo, 18, of Brazil, was traveling westbound on S.R. 54 in a 1998 Plymouth Breeze when it collided with an eastbound 1988 Buick Lesabre driven by Jared Kugler, 18, of Linton.
Air Evac transported Kugler from the scene to Methodist Hospital, where he remains in critical condition.
Carlee Robinson, a passenger in the Kugler vehicle, was treated and released from the Greene Co. Hospital.
Aaron Bixler, a passenger in the Meadlo vehicle, was transported to Greene Co. Hospital and then Lifelined to Methodist Hospital where he is in stable condition.
Meadlo was pronounced dead at the scene due to injuries sustained from the accident.
The accident is under investigation at this time.
Other officials responding to the scene were the Indiana State Police, Bloomfield Police Dept., Linton, Switz City and Worthington Fire Dept. and Greene County Ambulance.
