Around 3 o'clock this morning, the Clay County Sheriff's Department was notified of information about a possible drug dealer located at a residence in Coalmont. The information was obtained from an earlier drug arrest by the Linton Police Department.
When CCSD Officer Jerry Siddons arrived at 6548 W. Coulson St. for a "stop and knock," the homeowner, Kenneth J. Brown, gave law enforcement consent for a search of his home.
Inside the residence, which was surrounded with surveillance equipment, Siddons discovered undisclosed amounts of marijuana, methamphetamine, scales and various types of paraphernalia, including a bag of unused needles.
Also located in the home were an excessive amount of firearms. Twenty-one were confiscated by Officer Siddons and brought to the Clay County Sheriff's Department for containment.
Kenneth J. Brown, 43, was arrested and charged with possession of methamphetamine and possession of marijuana/hashish, but other charges are pending at this time. During arraignment, the Prosecutor's Office will also factor into the severity of Brown's charges the location of his residence, which was within 1,000 feet of a park or a school.
