Sections of S.R. 46 were closed yesterday by the Indiana Department of Transportation for routine pipe replacement and repaving. Crews will be working on various sections of S.R 46 east from the intersection at S.R. 59 to S.R. 246 until the road's scheduled re-opening on July 29.
After replacing each of the four drainage pipes under the highway, due to the normal wear and tear caused by traffic, the crews will repave each section of the road.
Work will begin along S.R. 46 in the area at C.R. 640 W. on two pipe structures within 500 feet of each other, then move to another structure located one mile east.
The final pipe structure will be replaced in an area just east of Bowling Green, between county roads 600 E. and 700 E.
Local traffic and area residents that use S.R. 46 regularly will need to find alternate routes to their travel destinations, while commercial traffic involving weight limitations are recommended to follow the posted detour signs along S. R. 59.
