A new health and wellness fair is set to coincide with the start of football season.
St. Vincent Clay Hospital will sponsor the Community Health and Wellness Fair on Friday, Aug. 26, before the first home football game at Northview High School. The theme is "Take a Timeout for Better Health."
The fair will begin at 4 p.m. and continue until the start of the game at 7:30 that evening.
It is open to the community, with a primary focus on information for children and teens, along with their families. A tent will be set up in the parking lot south of the football field.
Andrea Baysinger, community education director at the hospital, said she anticipates a big turnout.
"One goal with this is to take our mission out to the community," she said. "We felt that a health and wellness fair would be a prime opportunity to connect with the community through our students and their families."
A variety of health and wellness vendors will be on hand, she said. There will be information on immunizations, organ donation, mental health issues and youth activities. Health screenings, including blood sugar and blood pressure checks, will be offered.
Fun is also on the agenda, Baysinger said. There will be activities and giveaways, as well as the opportunity to sign up for a pair of Colts tickets.
"We'll have something for everyone," she said. "We hope people take a timeout before the game to look at their health."
Baysinger encourages everyone to check out the health fair and help make it an annual event.
