Vacant house burns

Thursday, August 4, 2005

At 2:39 this morning, members of the Posey Township Volunteer Fire Department were called to the scene of a structure fire at 307 Jackson St. in Staunton.

The vacant two-story home, owned by Alan Target, was in the process of being remodeled and had power to the meter but not inside the structure. The second floor was lost to the fire, but firefighters were able to save the rest of the home although there was extensive water damage.

The cause of the fire has not been determined. A further investigation had not been scheduled by officials as of press time.
