Approximately 1,000 residents south of Co. Rd. 700 N. to I-70 experienced problems with their water service Thursday because of an accident at the intersection of Co. Rd. 700 N. and S.R. 59.
"Residents did not lose water service because of the accident, but they did experience low water pressure for a while," Mayor Tom Arthur told The Brazil Times Thursday afternoon.
A fire hydrant was torn off of the pipe at ground level when one of two cars involved in a head-on collision on S.R. 59 went off the road into a ditch where it was located.
A replacement hydrant has been ordered by the Brazil City Water Department and delivery is anticipated within a couple of weeks.
