Pregnant woman injured in hit-and-run accident

At approximately 7:39 a.m. this morning, Clay County Sheriff's Deputy Jason Frazier was called to the scene of a hit-and-run accident at Kennedy Crossing Rd. and County Road 950 N. The crash sent a pregnant woman to the hospital and deputies on a search for the vehicle that left the scene.

Jamie M. Brinkman, 26, of Brazil, was traveling northbound on Kennedy Crossing Rd. near the intersection of Co. Rd. 950 N. when a driver in a pickup truck pulled into the lane in which she was driving.

She was unable to avoid hitting the pickup truck.

Both vehicles sustained damage to their front ends, and possibly down the driver's side of the pickup due to the nature of the head-on collision.

The driver of the pickup left the scene of the accident.

Brinkman, who is seven months pregnant, was complaining of abdominal pain at the scene. Brinkman was transported to St. Vincent Clay Hospital. She was Treated on the scene by Dick Johnson Vol. Fire Department's first responder team who assisted medical personnel from Trans-Care ambulance.

Further details concerning Brinkman's injuries was unavailable at press time.

The driver of the red and white Ford F-150 was described as a young male, and was last seen traveling west on Co. Rd. 950 N. shortly after the accident.

The Clay County Sheriff's Department are requesting that anyone with information concerning this investigation should contact Deputy Jason Frazier at 446-2535.
