Wiley's Poker Run raised money for shelter

Wednesday, September 7, 2005

On Aug. 28, 62 motorcyclists gathered in memory of their friend, Tony "Tank" Wiley, to help raise money for a cause that was dear to his heart, animals in need.

A check for $700, the proceeds from the inaugural "Tank" Wiley's Poker Run for the Clay County Humane Shelter, was presented to Shelter Board President Bill Bell, who's holding Gladys, by Marc Wiley (Tank's brother) on Aug. 31. Also pictured from Bell's right to left are: Event Organizer Betty Metz, holding Silvertone; Event Sponsor, and owner of the C-6 Bar in Carbon, Debbie Hall, holding Midnight; and Debbie's son Sean Hall who's holding Pearl.

The funds will be used to for medication and food for the many animals at the shelter. Of the animals pictured, the two dogs, Gladys was recently adopted and Pearl is being sent to a rescue center for medical treatment and adoption, while the two cats, Midnight and Silvertone, are still waiting for a home.
