Firefighters battle the flames from the burning debris of a house explosion at 9958 N. Co. Rd. 200 E. Thursday morning. The homeowner, Tom Miller, was at home at the time of the explosion. He was taken by Air Evac to Wishard Hosptial in Indianapolis for burn injuries.

An explosion shortly after 10 a.m. Thursday leveled the Tom Miller residence at 9958 N. County Road 200 E., near Harmony.

Members of the Van Buren, Center Point, Jackson TGownship and Poland Volunteer Fire Departments along with the Brazil City Fire Departmentfought the intense heat from the burning debris. Firefighters were expected to remain on the scene throughout the day to put out hot spots.

Miller was inside the residence at the time of the explosion. Sustaining burn injuries, he was transported by Trans-Care to St. Vincent Clay Hopsital, and then by Air Evac to Wishard Hosptial in Indianapolis. The extent of his inuries were not known Thursday afternoon.

The cause of the fire is undetermined and under investigation by the Indiana State Fire Marshal's Office.
