Brazil sidewalks are a source of good news and concern, Mayor Tom Arthur announced at the City Council meeting Tuesday night.
The good news is that Indiana Civil Liberties Union attorney Kenneth Falk has approved a plan to extend the city's sidewalk reconstruction project to 2008.
In return, he wants a report on the U.S. 40 reconstruction project for 2009.
The concern is that due to what the mayor calls a math error, the sidewalks that have been completed so far may be too narrow. The specifications said they should be 3 feet wide or match the sidewalks that are being replaced. Brazil sidewalks are about 4 1/2-foot wide, Arthur said. He plans to look at the finished sidewalks today.
