The Hummel family bought Atlantic Giant pumpkin seeds last year at the State Fair. This year they are the proud growers of four large pumpkins. Pictured from left to right are: Alan Hummel on the 380-pound pumpkin, Macy Hummel on the 412-pound pumpkin, Josh Hummel on the 383-pound pumpkin and Amy Hummel on the 280-pound pumpkin.

Hummel's Market, 8658 S. State Road 59 (about 2 miles south of Clay City on the right), was started in 1976 by Harlan and Ann Hummel. The market has been under the ownership of Alan and Amy for the last 16 years. The family grows and sells pumpkins, gourds, tomatoes, Indian corn and mums. The market also sells apples and cider. According to the Hummels, they have had a plentiful crop this year.
