According to the Probable Cause Affidavit filed in the Clay County Courthouse late Friday afternoon, officers from the Brazil City Police, Clay County Sheriff's Department and the Clay Community Corrections joined together to perform a legal search of the residence.
During the couple of hours it took to perform the search, the officers discovered glassware, a small set of postage scales, various pipes, rolling papers, roach clips, marijuana roaches, several zip-lock baggies of suspected methamphetamine and one suspected to be marijuana, hemostats, tweezers, several unmarked containers of pills and tablets along with baggies of white crystalline powder believed to be a "cutting agent" used in the processing of methamphetamine in various rooms throughout the home.
Several samples of the suspected methamphetamine were field tested and showed positive indications for the drug.
Weapons, including three handguns and a shotgun, were also found in the home which was equipped with two police scanners and a closed-circuit surveillance camera, with television screen, pointing towards the front door of the residence.
When a suspicious device, believed to be a homemade explosive, was discovered in the couple's bedroom, Indiana State Police sent a trained explosives handler to the scene. The device, which appeared to be a metallic carbon dioxide cylinder filled with black powder with a burning fuse inserted in the top, was removed from the area.
During a search of the couple's truck parked in the drive-way, a plastic baggie containing suspected methamphetamine along with another roach clip was discovered.
