A line of 12 police cars led the way to Richard Alan Swearingen's final resting place, as the procession followed from Schoppenhorst Funeral Home to St. Peters Cemetery in Clay City. Members of the Bowling Green Volunteer Fire Department, Center Point Volunteer Fire Department, Coal City Fire Department, Dick Johnson Township Volunteer Fire Department, Lewis Township Volunteer Fire Department, Perry Township Volunteer Fire Department and Poland Volunteer Fire Department paid their respects to the family and blocked a portion of State Road 59 for the procession. Swearingen was an Emergency Medical Technician for Athens Ambulance Service for more than 20 years.
