Marketing Brazil is the mandate of the new Brazil Economic Development Commission.
In the light of the economic climate and potential for growth, Mayor Tom Arthur established the commission. The city's previous Economic Development Commission has not functioned in many years.
The new commission members, appointed by the mayor, met for the first time in an organizational meeting Tuesday night in City Hall. Members are Chairman Jeff Stewart, Vice Chairman Ron Harms, Secretary Frank Phillips, Wayne Jenkins and Sam Glover.
The commission will meet the first Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m. in City Hall. The meetings are open to the public.
The mayor presented recent inquiries by business concerning possible expansion into the city.
Following the election of officers, Chairman Stewart asked members to think about a mission statement and goals to be discussed at the Nov. 1 meeting.
