Special school board meeting to address facility needs tonight

Wednesday, October 5, 2005

The Clay Community Schools Board of Trustees has announced another special session scheduled for tonight at 6:30 in the Media Center of North Clay Middle School.

The public is invited to attend.

During this session, the board hopes to gather information regarding long-term facility needs to create goals for the corporation instead of reacting to situations as they arise.

Along with Building and Grounds Director Tom Reberger's presentation about the future needs of the corporation, principals from each school and supervisors from all departments throughout the corporation will make individual presentations as well.

Some of the issues which may be discussed due to projected higher student enrollment include:

- classroom expansion

- more cafeteria space

- library expansion

- increases in technology

- athletic facilities

- transportation needs

Reberger said that this is an opportunity to prepare for the future, but from a financial viewpoint, the corporation is at least three years away from implementation of any major building effort.
