Replacing the Golden Arches is only part of the transformation at the new McDonald's Restaurant scheduled to reopen for breakfast Thursday morning at 5 a.m. Work on the sign was done by Elite Sign Company, of Avon, Ind., while the extensive landscaping project around the new building was done by Custom Cuts Landscapers.
The wait is almost over.
The menu may be the same, but it won't be just the same old thing when customers step through the doors into the new McDonald's Restaurant.
"We wanted a contemporary design to the interior, so we used a lighter decor." said Debbie Rhoden, Operations Manager for the McDonald's Corporation. "The color scheme and tiles used in this building are unlike any other in the area,"
The new design also includes a built- in fire place and a flat screen TV, along with the availability to use credit and debit cards for order payment.
But that's not all, Rhoden said. There's also wireless Internet available. Customers will be able to use electronics that have wireless capability on site for free.
The previous crew, which had been temporarily assigned to other area McDonald's restaurants during the construction, have the option of returning now that the doors are almost ready to open.
"Everyone (from the previous crew) that wants to return, are returning here to Brazil," Rhoden said.
The facility is designed to make the returning employees' jobs easier with the use of automated equipment like new grills, drink machines and the dual drive-thru (which is also a new feature to the area).
"The new automated equipment and the drive-thru will speed up the ordering process and customer service." Rhoden said, admitting that customers and employees may need a little time to get used to it. "The merging lane in the drive-thru might be unfamiliar at first, but it really does move the ordering process along quickly for both customers and employees."
Once open Thursday for breakfast at 5 a.m., there will be 30 days of fun events and specials soon to be announced for the community to be involved with while visiting their new McDonald's.
"We are even planning for Ronald McDonald to come and do a show for the kids before the weather gets too cold," she said. "We're really excited about opening."
