Kindergartners Chase McCrocklin and Sean Farris from Mrs. Carolyn Dardeens' class enjoyed the play activities after dinner during the Jackson Township Elementary's first Reading Round Up.

The school's kindergarten and first grade teachers wanted to create a fun evening as a way to encourage reading in the students and give parents creative ideas to help their children learn to read.

After a free dinner, Media Specialist Debbi Stout talked with parents about how to encourage reading in all facets of daily life, like at the grocery store, before showing a video by reading advocate Jim Trelease while the children enjoyed fun activities. Door prizes were given away at the end of the evening.
