New information has been released regarding the prosecution of Chad A. Cottrell for the murder of his wife, Trisha Cottrell, and her two children, Brittany, 12, and Victoria, 10, Williams, in their Rockville home the last weekend of October.
The State of Indiana is seeking the death penalty for Cottrell.
In an Intent to Seek Death Penalty notice, it is stated that "Chad A. Cottrell committed the Murder of Brittany Williams while committing or attempting to commit Child Molesting which constitutes an aggravating circumstance justifying imposition of the Death Penalty." The same entry was included for the charge of Victoria Williams' murder.
Parke County Sheriff Charles Bollinger said that the investigation has lead to the determination that child molestation had occured.
In a seperate interview, Bollinger also said that he is a supporter of the death penalty regarding the circumstances surrounding a case like this.
Autopsy results, details of the crime scene and investigation have not been released.
