A Brazil man was arrested Monday on molestation charges after a five-month investigation by the Brazil City Police Department.

Charles Eugene Buchanon was arrested on Monday, Nov. 7, by deputies of the Clay County Sheriff's Department serving a warrant from the Clay County Prosecutor's Office for molestation and sexual misconduct with a minor. Buchanon is in the Clay County Jail on a $10,000 cash bond with 10 percent while awaiting arraignment.

A report from two minors initiated the investigation early last summer, which was handled by BCPD officers Det. Marty Beasley, Sgt. Dave Archer and Linda Airhart of the Clay Co. Division of Family and Children's Service.

Once investigators questioned Buchanon and the two minors, a polygraph test was scheduled on Aug. 10 at the Parke County Sheriff's Department. Buchanon failed to report for the test.

Buchanon was charged with two counts of child molesting and one count of sexual misconduct with a minor. If convicted of the three Class C felonies, Buchanon could face imprisonment up to 24 years and/or $30,000 in fines.
