Brazil City street workers Mick Spears, Jimmy Croy and Josh Backfish used a portable leaf vacuum to pick up leaves from in front of homes on the north side of the city Monday as part of the 2005 leaf pick-up schedule. Residents are asked to rake leaves to the tree row or edge of their yard. Leaves should not be raked into the street. Putting leaves into the street makes pick-up more difficult and the leaves clog storm drains.
The leaf pick-up service will continue north of U.S. 40 until Nov. 28, while during the weeks of Nov. 21, Dec. 5 and Dec. 12, leaves on the south of U.S. 40 will be collected.
Anyone who has leaves not collected by Dec. 9 is encouraged to call the street department at 448-8501 to schedule leaf pick-up.
