Suspect accused of threatening murder if donation wasn't made

During a Nov. 22 arraignment on Intimidation charges, Vigo Superior Court Division 1 Judge Michael H. Eldred entered a preliminary plea of not guilty on behalf of a registered sex offender from Clay County.

According to information provided to Judge Eldred, on or about Nov. 15, Donald R. Brashear, 47, of Brazil, is accused of writing a letter in which he threatened to kill two attorneys at Ellis Law Office, located at 518 Wabash Ave., if they didn't donate $20,000 to a charity.

Intimidation is a Class D Felony punishable up to 3 years imprisonment and/or a $10,000 fine. As the Terre Haute Police Department continues the investigation, Brashear remains in the Vigo County Jail on a $50,000 bond with no 10 percent.
