Woman arrested after almost being hit by trains

Thursday, December 1, 2005

Around 4 a.m. Tuesday, an official of CSX Railroad contacted the Clay County Sheriff's Department to report that a young female wrapped in a blanket, walking westward on the railroad tracks from Calcutta Cemetery toward Carbon, was almost hit by two passing trains.

Deputy Jerry Siddons, dispatched to search the area around Carbon, found the uninjured woman walking along the edge of the tracks about a half-a-mile east of Murphy Ave.

During questioning, Autumn R. McCreery, 22, of Brazil, admitted that she had been drinking and said she was walking the tracks to clear her head. She tested .10 on the portable breathalyzer test.

Autumn R. McCreery was arrested and taken to the Clay County Jail for Public Intoxication, a Class B Misdemeanor, which is punishable with up to 180 days in prison and/or a fine not more than $1,000 if convicted.
