Church adding to funds for local Shop-with-a-Cop program

Monday, December 19, 2005

Rick Clark (right), treasurer of the Bethel United Methodist Church in Brazil, presents Brazil City Police Chief Mark Loudermilk with a donation of $713 for the department's "Shop-with-a-Cop" program. The church raised the money at its October Chili Supper.

The BCPD has collected nearly $4,000 for this year's program, Loudermilk said. "Shop-with-a-Cop" will benefit 25-30 children this Christmas. Each will be accompanied by a police officer on a mini-shopping spree in the Brazil Wal-Mart Saturday.

Loudermilk said the program's first priority is to purchase the children adequate winter clothes, such as coats, gloves and shoes.

"After that stuff, then it's toys," he said.
