Wednesday, December 21, 2005

At 8:20 a.m. Tuesday, members of Indiana State Police, Clay County Sheriffs Department, Van Buren Volunteer Fire Department and Search and Rescue were dispatched to a two- vehicle accident at the intersection of Knightsville Road and U.S. 40.

Donald Goodwin, 51, of Shelbyville, Ind., turned onto U.S. 40 and hit a Ford Explorer.

Speed was not a factor in the accident according to officials on the scene.

Brittany Lawson, 22, of Harmony, received minor facial injuries from the force of her vehicle's airbag and was taken to St. Vincent Clay Hospital.

Goodwin refused medical treatment at the scene.

Traffic, which was slowed for a little more than a half an hour, was back to normal shortly after 9 o'clock this morning.

Further details were unavailable as of press time.
