Collective bargaining on school board agenda

Monday, January 9, 2006

The Brazil Times will begin an in-depth three-part series in tomorrow's edition about the main issues during the collective bargaining process.

Tomorrow: The wage dispute.

The Distance Learning Equipment will once again be used to provide the public with greater access to Thursday's school board meeting. Those in the southern part of the county interested in participating in this meeting can do so at the Clay City Jr./Sr. High School Auditeria.

The public will hear discussion concerning:

-Budget transfers for the Transportation Department

-Recommendation for adjustments in employee handbooks

-Discussion and acceptance of food bids for the Cafeteria departments

But, for many, the main attraction for this meeting will be the presentation by Superintendent William Schad and Business Manager/Treasurer Randy Burns concerning the position the board of trustees has taken during the collective bargaining process with the Clay Community Classroom Teachers' Association in the past two years.

Clay Community School Board members Steven Grigsby, Jim Guy, Dottie King, Terry Barr, Len Fischer, Ted Jackson and Joe Thomas are scheduled to attend this Thursday night's school board meeting at 7:30 p.m. in the Media Center at North Clay Middle School immediately following an executive session.
