Don't forget your cookies this year

Friday, January 20, 2006

It is the time of year again to order as many cookies as you have space for in your freezer.

That's right the Covered Bridge Girl Scout Council has been taking orders for the small, scrumptious pieces of pleasure since Jan. 7. Don't fret, because there is still time to place your order before delivery begins on Feb.19.

According to a press release, this year will be the first opportunity to order two new flavors, the Thanks-A-Lot and the Cartwheel Girl Scout Cookies.

The Thanks-A-Lot cookie replaced the Animal Treasure cookie. The new cookie teaches munchers how to say "Thank you" in five different languages: English, French, Chinese, Spanish and Swahili. The cookie is a fudge-dipped shortbread cookie with the sayings imprinted on the top.

The Cartwheel cookies are a reduced-fat and vitamin fortified cinnamon and oatmeal cookie that has zero trans fat per serving.

Another announcement has been made that this will be the last year to enjoy the Lemon Pastry Creme cookie. A new lemon flavored cookie will be introduced next year.

At $3.50 a box, you can get the flavor of your choice, while more than 2/3 of each purchase will be redirected into the community.
