Fire at Great Dane, no injuries reported

Great Dane Trailers was the scene of a structure fire early Thursday morning. The fire was extinguished and the firefighters had left the scene when this photo was taken shortly before 8 a.m. According to two-way radio traffic, the fire was limited to a piece of equipment.

The Brazil Fire Department was called to Great Dane Trailers on U.S. 40 at Harmony around 6:20 a.m. Thursday. At 6:32 a.m., the ladder truck was dispatched for what was believed to be a structure fire.

A few minutes later, additional personnel were requested, but soon after, it was determined the extra firefighters would not be needed.

Details were sketchy at press time, but the fire was apparently confined to one piece of equipment, according to two-way radio traffic.

There were no injuries reported and the Trans-Care ambulance was released at 6:50 a.m.

By 8 a.m., firefighters had left the plant.

It is not known if if any employees were sent home after the fire was discovered or not.
