Last Saturday, Northview High School hosted the Indiana High School Color Guard Association's 2006 Winter Guard Contest.
Triton Central won the overall Class B title with a score of 69.6. Indian Creek placed second with a 69.1 while Crawford County was third at 60.5, followed by Greencastle's finish with a score of 56.9 and Beech Grove with a 54.5. North Putnam and Cloverdale also competed in the contest.
In Class AAA, North Putnam finished fifth overall with a score of 53.1. Indianapolis Pike won the title with a 59.1. Placing second was New Albany at 58.6 while Scottsburg was third at 55.6, followed by Franklin at 55.3, North Putnam, Cascade at 51.7, Orleans at 50.5, Henryville at 48.7 and North Montgomery at 47.7.
In Class AA, Scottsburg won the title with a 70.8, followed by Terre Haute South at 69.3, Evansville Memorial at 66.2, Zionsville at 66, Cloverdale finished fifth with a score of 65.1., Whiteland at 63.9, West Vigo at 63.5, Bloomington North at 63.3, Southwestern at 60.5, Mt. Vernon at 59.4, Evansville F.J. Reitz at 58.5 and Sheridan at 57.2.
In Class A, Southmont won with a score of 79.8, and was followed by Scottsburg at 79.2, Brownsburg at 78.4, North Harrison at 77.5, Perry Meridian at 75, North Posey at 74.6, Castle at 72.3, Decatur Central at 71.7, Columbus East at 71.5, Boonville at 68.6 and Madison at 65.8.
Avon A won the Open Class with a score of 77.9. Placing second was Greenwood at 75.9, while Jasper was third at 75. Ben Davis came in fourth at 72.4, while Southport was fifth at 66.3 and Salem was sixth at 66.2.
Guards in the Cadet Class also competed, as North Clay Middle School won with a 65.9 and Avon was second at 57.1.
Divisional Finals, the final competition, will be this weekend at Center Grove and will include Cadet, Class B, Class AAA and Class AA.
Class A and the World Class will compete at Mooresville on Saturday.
The state championships will take place at Center Grove on March 18.
