Clay City High School places second in Envirothon

Tuesday, March 21, 2006

On March 8, 2006, the East Central Indiana Regional Envirothon Contest was held at the Kuhlman Center on the Wayne County Fairgrounds. The contest provided students with presentations on soils/land use, wildlife, aquatic ecology, forestry and this year's special topic: water stewardship in a changing climate.

Union County High School from Liberty, Connersville High School from Connersville, Clay City High School from Clay City, and Northview High School from Brazil all brought two teams each to compete at this year's event. The three top placing teams were: First Place - Connersville High School FFA No. 1, Second Place -- Clay City FFA Team, and Third Place -- Union County Gold.

Six regional contests are held in Indiana from March through early April. The top three teams at each regional contest move on to compete at the state contest to be held at Minnetrista in Muncie, Ind., on Wednesday, April 26, 2006. The winner from the state contest will represent Indiana at the CanonĀ® North American Envirothon Contest at the University of Manitoba, Winnipeg, Canada, in July 2006.
