Agencies get first round of United Way allocations

The Clay County United Way held its annual meeting Friday afternoon at the First Presbyterian Church.

First quarter allocations were presented to the 2005-06 agencies. Agencies receiving funding throughout the year from the United Way are Area 7 on Aging and Disabled, American Red Cross (Wabash Valley Chapter), Big Brother / Big Sister, Boy Scouts of America (Crossroads of America Council), Clay County Children's Medical Assistance, Clay Community Parks Association, Clay County Emergency Food Pantry, Clay County Cooperative Benevolence Ministry, Clay County Literacy Coalition, Clay County Sheriff's Reserve, Clay County Search and Rescue, Clay County Senior Citizens, Clay County Well-Child Clinic, Council on Domestic Abuse, Covered Bridge Girl Scout Council, Family Services Association, Clay County 4-H Council, Southern Clay County Christian Share and Care Food Pantry, Habitat for Humanity, Salvation Army Service Extension and YMCA of Clay County.

Also at the meeting, nominations for the board members for the 2006-07 campaign year were approved. The approved members are Rick Burger, Kenny Crabb, Carrie Crowder, Jeff Deakins, Jennifer French, Kathy Knust, Mike Lawson, John Lee, Lynne Llewellyn, Sandy Lorenze, Todd Pierce, Lee Reberger, Jay Stevens, Lynn Stoelting, and Vangie Sutherland.

The United Way is accepting applications for 2006-07 agencies. Organizations wanting to be considered for funding should pick up an application from the United Way of Clay County, 523 E. National Ave. Applications must be turned in by May 15th.
