Allow me to introduce myself. I am Cody Ray Barnard and I am running for the position of Clay Community School Board Trustee at large. I am hoping that I can make a difference. If elected, one of my primary goals is to get Clay County teachers a new contract. I also hope to work hard to find money so that all employees of our school corporation can get a raise.
I am a lifelong resident of Clay County. I graduated from Northview High School in 2002. I attended Vincennes University and graduated with an associate's degree in broadcasting in 2004. I am currently employed at WTWO as a morning news producer. I substitute teach here in Clay County where I enjoy the interaction with students and teachers. I am a licensed IHSAA wrestling official.
I also spend much of my time as a volunteer firefighter. I was a member of the Posey Township Volunteer Fire Dept. for four years. I then moved and joined Jackson Township Volunteer Fire Dept. and currently volunteer with their department. This volunteer position is one of my passions. I love helping others. I hope that I can help our schools, our teachers, the citizens of Clay County and ultimately our students by serving as a board member.
I have served as a leader in many capacities and believe I have what it takes to lead as a member of the school board. I feel because I'm young and energetic I could add something to the group that would lead to positive things for students and teachers. I'm not afraid to admit mistakes and follow through to ensure that corrections are made.
I am asking for your vote on May 2nd. I truly believe that together we can all make a difference. I thank you for your support.
