- Alumbaugh is candidate for County Auditor

Note: Everyone is invited to attend the political forum on April 26, starting at 6 p.m., at the 4-H Fairgrounds, sponsored by The Brazil Times, Clay County Farm Bureau and Clay County Chamber of Commerce.

My name is Mary Jo Alumbaugh, and I am the Democrat candidate for County Auditor. I am a lifelong citizen of Clay County. I grew up in Posey Township and graduated from Staunton High School. I attended Indiana State University and also took several classes at Ivy Tech.

My husband, Rick, and I live in Posey Township along with our son, Garrett. Our daughter, Erica, is married. She and her husband, Lance, have three wonderful children. We enjoy traveling in our recreational vehicle and participating in short-term mission trips. Church activities, power walking, reading and spending time with our grandchildren fill most of our spare time.

I have served as First Deputy Auditor for nearly 20 years under four different Auditors, both Democrat and Republican. My previous work experience includes Customer Service at CBS, Shaker & Shaker Public Accountants and J. I. Case Co., as a Cost Accountant. Several years were spent at home raising my two children and working part-time as a Tax Preparer in the local H & R Block tax office.

I am presently a member of the Clay County Redevelopment Commission, Brazil Rotary and have served on the board of Habitat for Humanity, in its formative years, and the Clay County Learning Center.

My plan for the Auditor's office is to offer all the citizens of Clay County friendly and cooperative access to the office, assure a good working relationship with all other elected officials, with special attention to the needs of the Council and Commissioners. I feel my experience and dedication make me an excellent candidate for this position and would appreciate the support of the citizens of this county in the upcoming general election.

Mary Jo
