Brazil 4th of July tradition continues

Friday, April 7, 2006

Daylight-saving time will cause another change in lifestyles, one that won't be felt until the Fourth of July.

Due to DST pushing the clock back one hour during the spring and summer months, sundown will come an hour later than usual in Indiana. Therefore, the Rotary Fourth of July Celebration fireworks won't be seen until 10:30 p.m. -- or perhaps later.

That decision was made Thursday at the Rotary committees meeting at Moore Funeral Home.

Music specially selected for the fireworks will be broadcast on WAXI, 104.9 FM this year.

Also, non-profit food groups will be able to sell their wares for three days, Sunday-Tuesday, July 2-4. That decision was made after checking with the All-American Shows carnival.

Contracts should be mailed out early next week to groups that have already expressed an interest. Groups that had one of the 10 spots last year will be given first opportunity this year. The list of items that may not be sold, due to conflict with All-American Shows, has not changed. Call 446-2216, extension 231, for more information.
