Loyalty Day plans announced by veterans

Monday, April 10, 2006

It's time for everyone to show their loyalty to America and to our armed forces by celebrating Loyalty Day on May 6.

"The day begins at Forest Park Pavilion (the Cow Palace) in Brazil at 10 a.m. with a program honoring all veterans this year," wrote Veterans Service Officer Les Walden.

The program will be a special tribute and memorial to local veterans who gave their lives while serving in the military.

All Clay County veterans are invited to attend. There will be a free dinner provided by Elks Lodge No. 762 for veterans and their families. Reservations may be made by signing up at the American Legion or VFW posts or by calling the Veterans Service Office at 448-9015.

Following the dinner, the units will line up for the Loyalty Day Parade at 1 p.m. The parade will step off at 2 p.m. in downtown Brazil.

Watch The Brazil Times for a copy of the parade entry form or call 448-9015, 448-8554 or (812) 939-2707 to enter the parade.

Immediately after the parade, there will be a presentation of trophies, awards and refreshments at the VFW Post No. 1127, 103 E. Jackson St., Brazil.
