- Vanatti running for Clay County delegate

Dear Fellow Brazil and Clay County Citizens,

I am about to take a challenge in my young life. Before I introduce you to that challenge that I am asking you to help me on, I would like to introduce myself. I am a junior at Indiana State University. My concentration of study is criminology with a minor in psychology. In 2004 I graduated from Northview High School. I have been very involved in my community.

To share with you some involvement, including, Rotary of Brazil, Lion's Club, Clay County Sheriff's Posse, Clay County Republican Club and helping out many youth groups in the area. I also am a member of the First United Methodist Church, where I am a pianist in the praise band.

Now to introduce you to my challenge. In 2008 I plan to be your next mayor of Brazil. Currently, I am on the ballot for state convention delegate and asking for your vote.

Why would you vote for me? My answer simply is why wouldn't you? Brazil is a great city. I am willing to represent every citizen in this town. I believe it is vital for citizens to have a say in what goes on in their city. So many times I see the town being ran like a business, cutting the people's voice. Brazil, if being ran like a business, simply is not succeeding. Yes, business ethics is pivotally important, however, you must not demise your taxpayers and employees.

If opening the city office later in the evening for your voice to be heard is what it takes, then that is what I promise. I am ready to get the job done in this city. The city needs help economically, morally and the crime prevention needs to take its place. Every citizen needs a voice in what goes on in their town. Let's look at Brazil as an improving city, not one that is going down the slumps. We can't simply ignore things anymore. Brazil is very important to me and all of us that have lived here our whole lives. I will not ignore any actions of improvement.

The police and fire fighters in our city do a very good job. They deserve more money than they receive now. Insurance, as we have recently found out, is not sufficient for employees of our city, those that take a chance every time they go on duty. This town is under the attack of a plethora of drug problems. This destroys our families. Law enforcement needs the support of local leaders. Brazil also needs a drug and task force that I can promise you will happen through my leadership so that these drug addicts can be rehabilitated.

Under my leadership, I promise a growth economically. We need to push more money into our local economy and look at expansion. I have studied many small towns that have grown economically and I am willing to do what it takes to grow and create more local jobs. Creating more jobs locally does not include raising your taxes, but creating more paychecks, hence, more money to repair and do what it takes to improve the city.

I am challenging you to vote for me and support me during my battle for office. I want to hear your opinions and your support is colossal in the victory for 2008 Mayor of Brazil. Vote for me in 2006 for the Clay County Delegate and in 2008 I am asking for your vote as your next mayor. Meanwhile, visit www.vanattiformayor.com and get involved in my campaign. Don't look down upon me in age but look up as our city improves.

Don't let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith and in purity. 1 Timothy 4:12

Eric Vanatti
