- Gibbens running for Auditor

My name is Jasen D. Gibbens and I would like to announce my candidacy as Republican for Clay County Auditor. I am a child of Knightsville, Indiana and a 1990 graduate of Northview High School. My career of public service began with Boy Scouts wherein I attained Eagle Scout with my project of the Knightsville picnic shelter behind the community center. I continued my career in public service as an Intelligence Analyst in both the Indiana National Guard and the United States Army wherein I served eight years. After discharge from the Army, I moved home and obtained a Bachelor's Degree in 2000 in Criminology from Indiana State University. I felt my best course for public service at that time was to work for the Indiana Department of Corrections. This job took me away from my home for a short time. However, I was still eager to learn and decided to come back to Clay County and continue my education at Indiana State University. In 2005 I obtained a second Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Technology with a concentration in supervision. I am continuing with my Master's degree and plan to complete my thesis in May 2007. I am presently also a Quality Inspector with Great Dane Trailers in Brazil.

As Clay County Auditor, I plan to bring fiscal responsibility, leadership, technical innovation and full-time public service to the office of Clay County Auditor. As the human resources manager, secretary to the County Council and Commissioners and financial overseer, I believe my experience and education will be used well by Clay County during my tenure as Auditor. On a personal note, I am a resident of Brazil, Ind. I am married to Stacy Gibbens who works in the Prosecutor's Office in Clay County. My wife and I are raising our six children, Chelsea Sears, Katie Sears and Alexis Gibbens who attend North Clay Middle School, and Nicholas Sears, Samantha Gibbens and Zachary Gibbens, who attend East Side Elementary School. My parents are Terry D. and Sandy F. Gibbens (formerly Pflueger) of Knightsville and my grandparents are Gerald and Betty Gibbens (formerly Tabor) of Staunton and Herman and Rosella Pflueger (formerly Fisher) of Brazil. My family attends Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church in Terre Haute. We are also active in historical re-enactment events, the Clay County Community Theater and our children are active in many different sports in Brazil.

As a public servant I pledge to be trustworthy with the public trust, loyal to Clay County and its taxpayers, helpful to all that need my help, friendly to both those I know and those I do not know, courteous to all taxpayers, kind with compassionate traditional values, obedient to those that have put their trust in me, cheerful to all those I serve, thrifty with Clay County taxpayers money, brave to always do the right thing even if it is not popular, clean inside and outside and reverent to my Lord Jesus Christ.

I believe that I possess the unique combination of youth and experience that would benefit Clay County. I believe that I can help lead Clay County into the 21st century without interfering with the integrity of our great history. Most importantly, I would urge all citizens to vote and I would appreciate your support in my campaign for Clay County Auditor.
