U.S. Sen. Evan Bayh's "Traveling Office Hours" will roll through Clay County today.
A representative from Bayh's office will be available from 2-3 p.m. in council chambers at Brazil City Hall. Though Bayh can't make the trip himself, he emphasized in a recorded address the importance of reaching out to his constituents across Indiana.
"I realize that, too often, Washington can seem remote and disconnected from the concerns and challenges Hoosiers face in their everyday lives," he said. "My office can help cut through the red tape, address problems and make government work for real people."
Bayh tries to send a representative to each of Indiana's 92 counties at least once a year, according to his Web site.
Sitting in for Bayh will be Andrew Cullen, the senator's regional director for southwestern Indiana. The most common questions Cullen fields during traveling office hours events pertain to social security, veterans' benefits, immigration and taxes, according to a press release.
Clay countians with a question for Bayh's office who cannot attend the event can contact Cullen at his Evansville office (by mail, at 101 Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard, Evansville, IN 47708, or by phone, at (812) 465-6500.
