Hamilton County has been picked to be the site of the Parke County murder trial of 35-year-old Chad A. Cottrell.
Hamilton Superior Court No. 3 Judge William Hughes will preside over the upcoming trial that will take place in Noblesville, Ind.
Cottrell's lawyers, the Parke County Prosecutor Steve Cvengros and Judge Hughes have planned a conference call on Thursday to discuss possible dates for a pre-trial hearing.
Cottrell is charged with three counts of murder for the Halloween 2005 slayings of his wife, Trisha Cottrell, 29, and two stepdaughters, Brittany, 12, and Victoria, 10, Williams, in the Cottrell's rural Parke County home.
Last November, Cvengros formally notified Cottrell that the State would be seeking the death penalty if he is convicted.
Cottrell's lawyers, Jesse Cook and Eric Koselke, filed a Change of Venue motion in mid-March. Cvengros did not object to the motion.
According to the Parke County Sheriff's Department, Cottrell will remain in the Parke County jail until a decision is made whether or not to move him. That decision will be made at a time closer to the start of the trial.
