Emergency personnel was on hand as an airplane experiencing engine failure made an emergency landing at Clay County Airport Wednesday, according to Clay County Sheriff Mike Heaton.
A small, single-engine aircraft piloted by its owner landed safely at the airport just south of Brazil Wednesday afternoon, Heaton said. The sheriff didn't know the name of the pilot, who escaped without injury.
Around 2 p.m. Wednesday, air traffic controllers at Hulman Tower contacted local dispatchers to inform them of the situation and request emergency personnel.
Members of the Jackson Township Volunteer Fire Department were at the scene when the plane touched down. Fortunately, Heaton said, their services were not required.
"The pilot was able to just glide in without any problems," he said.
