Cottrell lawyers seek second change of venue

Thursday, May 18, 2006

Defense attorneys for Chad A. Cottrell have filed a Verified Motion for Change of Venue less than two weeks after the trial was moved to Hamilton County from Parke County.

Cottrell will appear before Judge William Hughes in Hamilton County Superior Court No. 3 on June 21 at 1:30 p.m.

The June hearing will determine whether or not the State of Indiana's representative, Parke County Prosecutor Steve Cvengros, agrees with the motion to allow the trial to be moved to another location.

Cottrell's attorneys, Jesse Cook and Eric Koselke, decided to file the motion due to the amount of publicity surrounding the case, said Superior Court No. 3 Bailiff Terri Carter.

Cottrell, 35, is charged with three counts of murder for the Halloween weekend 2005 slayings of his wife, Trisha Cottrell, 29, and two stepdaughters, Brittany, 12, and Victoria, 10, Williams, in the Cottrell's rural Parke County home.
